Wuppertal, Kunstraum

As the invitation to the exhibition opening already announces, the installation Pertrix alludes to the workbench on which Otto Hahn proved it was possible to split the uranium atom. The original workbench is now in the German Museum in Munich. This installation, specially created for the "Kunstraum " in Wuppental consists of a glass table, 2,70 m x 5,40 m in size, holding various chemistry, physics and artistic glass apparatus, as well as some projection transparencies. A number of overhead projectors shine through the glass table and project its surface onto the walls of the room. The complete installation of light, glass and projected images presents a table situation founded on knowledge and ignorance, trust and conjecture, power and powerlessness - a dialogue between artistic and scientific processes.
